Keep children and pets off the lawn until the product has been watered in and the surface is dry. Sweep any prills off paths and driveways rather than hosing them, since run-off carries phosphorus into drains. Store sealed and dry, out of reach.

New grass fails at the roots, not the blades. This is a fine-prilled 12-24-12 with the phosphorus loaded high, so a fresh seedbed or a newly laid sod spends its first weeks anchoring itself rather than producing leaf it cannot yet support.
The prill size matters as much as the analysis. It is ground small enough to fall between seed and settle at soil level, rather than sitting on top where it does nothing and washes off in the first rain.
Follow these in order. The rates below are the ones we test to, and going over them will not make anything grow faster.
Rake the soil level and firm it, then spread at 4 lb per 1,000 square feet before sowing. Rake lightly once more so the prills settle just below the surface.
Sow the seed or lay the sod, then water thoroughly. Keep the surface damp, not saturated, for the first two to three weeks; drying out at this stage is what kills new grass.
Apply a second dose at the same rate about six weeks after sowing, then switch to an ordinary lawn feed from the third month onward. Always water in after spreading.
