Safety note

It smells strongly of fish, which is normal, and the smell fades from soil within a day. Wear gloves, avoid eye contact, and rinse with water if it happens. It attracts cats and dogs to treated ground for a few hours, so water it in well. Store sealed, above freezing, out of reach of children.

About this fertilizer

Cold-pressed Ascophyllum kelp blended with cold-processed hydrolysed fish. Neither is a strong feed on its own, and the analysis is deliberately mild at 3-1-2, because this is a tonic rather than a fertilizer in the usual sense.

What it actually supplies is trace elements, amino acids and natural growth regulators that help a plant get through a bad week. Use it after transplanting, after a heatwave, after a pest knock-back, or on anything that has stalled without an obvious cause.

Recommended uses

  • Reviving plants after transplant shock
  • Supporting crops through heat or drought stress
  • Regular gentle feeding of seedlings and young plants
  • Foliar feeding where a soil problem limits uptake
How to apply it

Application instructions

Follow these in order. The rates below are the ones we test to, and going over them will not make anything grow faster.

  1. Dilute for a soil drench

    Mix 2 fluid ounces, about a quarter cup, into 1 gallon of water. Water it onto damp soil around the base of the plant until the root zone is soaked through.

  2. Or spray it on the leaves

    For foliar use, halve the rate to 1 fluid ounce per gallon and spray until the leaves are just wet, undersides included. Apply early morning or evening only, never in direct midday sun.

  3. Use weekly or as needed

    Safe to use every week through the growing season. It is mild enough that it will not scorch at the stated rate, but there is no benefit to going stronger, so do not.
